💡Tips
1. Cheese
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different types or combinations of cheese. A sharp cheddar will provide a more pronounced flavor, while a mild cheddar will be more subtle. You could also try a mixture of cheddar and another melting cheese like mozzarella or Monterey Jack for added stretch and creaminess.
Whatever cheese you choose, it’s best to grate it yourself rather than using pre-shredded cheese.
2. Cooling Time
It’s important to let it cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving. First, it allows the casserole to set properly. The egg mixture, which acts as a binder, continues to cook slightly from residual heat and firms up during this time. This makes the casserole easier to cut and serve.
If you’re not serving the casserole immediately, you can let it cool to room temperature before covering and refrigerating. When reheating, do so gently to avoid overcooking the eggs and drying out the chicken.
