👨‍🍳 Low Carb Mozzarella Sticks Ingredients

To make these delicious and crispy keto mozzarella sticks you will need:

  • 6 String Cheese Sticks
  • 1/8 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Almond Flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Flour
  • Frying Oil (I recommend beef tallow)

🌟 I will explain how to make these keto mozzarella sticks in the airfryer, oven, and pan.

🧀 Making Keto Cheese Sticks

Follow these simple steps to make the perfect low carb mozzarella sticks:

Step 1

Slice the string cheese in half (12 total pieces). Then, add the egg to a small bowl. Add one tablespoon of water and whisk well.

Step 2

Take a second bowl. Add the almond flour, Parmesan cheese, coconut flour, garlic powder, and salt. Stir and mix well.

Step 3

Dip each piece of cheese into the egg, and then into the breading coating mixture.

Step 4

Place the strings of cheese on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for an hour. It will help the coating on it stay in place later.

Step 5

I will explain how to make these low carb cheese sticks in the oven, airfryer, or pan. The airfryer and pan will give the best results.

Pan: Heat 2 inches of oil (I recommend beef tallow) over medium-high heat. Carefully place the sticks into the oil and fry for about 1:30 minutes on each side until crispy.

Airfryer: Preheat the airfryer to 370-380F (190C). Place the keto cheesesticks inside and cook for about 8-10 minutes.

Don’t overcrowd the airfryer, if the air fryer is on the smaller size, cook them in two batches.

Oven: Preheat the oven to 400F (200C). Place an oven rack in the lower third of your oven.

Then, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and grease it. Place the cheese sticks on the sheet (make sure not to overcrowd them!). Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until crispy.

Dipping Sauce

Serve these with your favorite low carb dipping sauce. Here are 2 of my favorite sauce recipes: Keto Hoisin Sauce and Keto Pizza Sauce.

String Cheese Sticks

I made these keto cheesesticks with mozzarella cheese because in my opinion- it’s the perfect cheese for this recipe.

You can also try using other types of cheese like cheddar – but obviously- the result won’t be the same.

I also added Parmesan to the breading mixture – it really makes all the difference. It improves the texture and taste of these keto mozzarella cheese sticks.

Almond Flour

To make these mozzarella sticks low in carbs, I used almond flour instead of traditional flour.

Almond flour is a great low carb alternative to regular flour, and it adds a nice nutty taste to the mozzarella sticks.

I use almond flour in so many of my recipes. It has a great texture when mixed with cheese and makes a delicious coating for the outside of the sticks.

Frying Oil

If you choose to “deep fry” these keto cheese sticks, make sure to use healthy oil – like beef tallow.

Don’t use seed oils because they are fragile and will oxidize quickly. These seed oils are the root cause of metabolic dysfunction.

Beef tallow, on the other hand, comes from animal fat, so it is much more stable (and so much healthier).

Keto Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

If you want to save time and avoid a mess in the kitchen, then air fryer keto cheese sticks are the way to go!

If you prepare these cheeseticks in the airfryer (according to my recipe)- they will be super crispy and delicious.

And you won’t have to deep fry them in the pan, leaving your kitchen smelling and looking like a greasy mess!

Pork Rinds For The Coating

You can also make keto mozzarella sticks with pork rinds. They can improve the texture and taste. Simply add 5 tablespoons of pork rinds to the breading mixture (and use a bit less almond flour).

I hope you liked my keto fried mozzarella sticks recipe! I really think it’s one of the best keto snacks around. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also a great way to get a healthy dose of cheese and protein.

Plus, you don’t have to worry about added carbs or sugars. Try this recipe and let me know what you think! If you have any questions- feel free to ask in the comments below. Enjoy!
