I was looking for a low carb fried pickles recipe, and tried a few of them. I was pretty disappointed with the results. So, I decided to come up with my own.

Even if you don’t own an air fryer (or don’t want to use it) – this recipe will still work using the oven.

10 Dill Pickles – choose the largest dill pickles you can find and make sure there is no sugar added to them.

Some brands add lots of sugar in order to make them taste better. For keto- this is a no-no.

3 tablespoons Almond Flour – is so common in keto recipes. Buy a pound or two of almond flour so you always have it on hand for when a recipe calls for it.

1/2 teaspoon Salt 

1/3 teaspoon Black Pepper

1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

2 Eggs

2 tablespoons Sour cream– this is the secret to a thick batter that will make your fried pickles extra tasty. You can use heavy cream or oven yogurt if you don’t have any sour cream.

🥒 How To Make Low Carb Fried Pickles

It’s so easy to make these keto fried pickels!

Step 1

Start by preheating the air fryer (400F- 205C) Slice the pickles lengthways. Then, add almond flour, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese to a bowl.

Step 2

In a second bowl, start whisking eggs and sour cream together.

Step 3

Dip the pickles in the wet mixture, then in the dry mixture. Grease the air fryer basket and air fry for 10-12 minutes.

I recommend flipping the pickles after a few minutes to get an even cook. Enjoy!

Are These Keto Pickle Fries Really Low Carb?

Yes. Instead of wheat flour which is high in carbs, we’re using almod flour which is keto friendly. In addition, pickles are low in carbs as well.

Eating keto oven fried pickles in moderation shouldn’t affect your ketosis state.

This keto fried pickles air fryer recipe is the best way to make pickles. But, you can also make them in a pan – frying them in butter or tallow. The taste is almost the same, but the texture may be a bit different.

Can You Freeze These?

I don’t recommend feezing these keto air fried pickles because they will lose their texture and become soggy. The recipe is very easy to make – just prepare a new batch when you’re ready for more!

If you want your fried pickles to be really crispy – you can simply deep fry them. Use beef tallow to fry, and not vegetable oils – they are harmful to your health.

When frying, it’s best to use fats from the animal kingdon: butter, tallow, lard, etc. Not only they work the best, they also don’t damage your health like vegetable oils do.

  • If you want the batter to stick better and for the fried pickles to be juicier, cut them into bigger pieces.
