      💡Tips

      1. Let the Meat Rest

Take the chuck roast out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before cooking. When cold meat hits a hot pan, it can seize up and become tough.

Room temperature meat sears more evenly and produces a better crust. While it’s resting, you can prepare your seasonings and heat up your pan.

      2. Don’t Skip the Sear

Those 5 minutes per side might seem like extra work, but they’re really important for developing flavor.

When you sear the meat, it creates a golden brown crust through a process called the Maillard reaction.

This crust adds a deep, rich taste to the final dish and helps keep the juices inside the meat during the long cooking process.

Make sure your pan is really hot before adding the meat – you should hear a strong sizzle when it hits the surface.

      3. The Fork Test

Around the 3-hour mark, you can do a quick check by opening one corner of the foil and poking the meat with a fork. If it starts to pull apart easily, it’s nearly done. If there’s still resistance, give it more time.

      FAQ

Do I really need to let it rest for an hour?

Yes, the one-hour rest time is really important! During this time, the meat fibers relax and reabsorb juices, making the beef more tender and easier to shred. If you try to shred it right away, you’ll lose a lot of the juices, and the meat might be tougher.
