      💡Tips

      1. Don’t Overwork The Mixture

When combining the ingredients, mix just until everything is evenly distributed. If you mix too much or too aggressively, the sausage balls can become dense and tough.

Use your hands  – you’ll get a better feel for when everything is properly combined. You want to see the cheese and pork panko evenly spread throughout the mixture, but stop as soon as you achieve this.

      2. Coating

When coating with the reserved pork panko, use a gentle touch. You want an even coating but not too thick. Roll each ball in the panko and give it a light press to help the coating stick.

If you find the coating isn’t sticking well, your mixture might be too cold – let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes.

Also, don’t reuse any leftover pork panko that has fallen off during coating, as it might have gotten clumpy from the moisture.

      3. Resting Time Is Important

Let the sausage balls rest for about 5 minutes after taking them out of the oven. During this time, they’ll finish cooking from residual heat and the cheese inside will set slightly, making them easier to handle and giving you the best texture.

If you try to eat them immediately, they’ll be too hot and the cheese will be too runny. This short rest time helps everything come together perfectly.

      FAQ

Can I freeze these sausage balls?

Yes, these freeze really well! Let them cool completely after baking, then place them on a baking sheet in the freezer until solid (about 2 hours). Then transfer them to a freezer bag or container.

They’ll keep for up to 3 months. To reheat, place the frozen balls on a baking sheet and warm them in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes, or until heated through.
