✨ Recipe Ingredients

To make these tasty carnivore diet friendly sushi you will need:

  • 1 batch of Carnivore Rice (here is the recipe – really simple, and it’s 100% carnivore friendly)
  • 2 pinches of Salt
  • 1 tablespoon of Beef Gelatin Powder
  • 2 tablespoons of Egg White Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Plain White Vinegar (or substitute with water for strict carnivore)
  • 1 tablespoon of water

👨‍🍳 How To Make

Easily make carnivore sushi:

Step 1

First, you need to make the carnivore rice – here is the recipe (it’s really simple). Once it’s ready, let’s start making the sticky mixture that will make it proper sushi rice.

Step 2

Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar (or water for strict carnivore) and salt to a bowl. Use a hand mixer and whisk on low.

Step 3

While the mixer is running, start slowly adding the beef gelatin and mix it until the mixture becomes jelly-like.

Step 4

Turn the mixer to high speed and start slowly sprinkling egg white powder. Take your time, and if clumps appear, reduce the mixing speed. As the mixture becomes thicker, add 1 tablespoon of water and continue mixing until all the egg white powder is used.

Mix on high until a sticky glue texture is achieved- it shouldn’t take too long. Remember- the mixture should be sticky, not runny, so don’t use too much water.

Step 5

Now combine the glue mixture with the carnivore rice you prepared (step 1). Shape the rice into a column and place it on plastic wrap. Close the wrap (so everything is sealed) and place it in the refrigerator for 3 hours.

Step 6

Remove from the refrigerator, let the rice come to room temperature, and make sushi as you desire. If you are a strict carnivore, you can make nigiri (salmon on top of cubes of “sticky rice”) or use nori sheets to make traditional sushi. Enjoy!

💡Tips

1. Allow Sufficient Refrigeration Time

After combining the sticky mixture with the carnivore rice and shaping it into a column, it’s important to allow enough time for the rice to set in the refrigerator. The recommended refrigeration time is 3 hours.

Allowing the rice to chill in the refrigerator helps the sticky mixture to firm up and bind the rice grains together. This step is essential for creating neat and compact sushi pieces that hold their shape. If you rush this process and remove the rice from the refrigerator too soon, you may end up with sushi that falls apart easily.

2. Create the Ideal Sticky Mixture

The sticky mixture is what binds the carnivore rice together and gives it the traditional sushi rice texture. When preparing the mixture, be patient and take your time. Slowly add the beef gelatin while whisking on low speed to prevent clumps from forming.

As you incorporate the egg white powder, reduce the mixing speed if clumps appear, and gradually add water to achieve the desired sticky consistency.

It’s important to strike the right balance between the ingredients. Too much gelatin can make the mixture overly firm, while too much water can make it runny. Aim for a sticky, glue-like texture.
