Keto Crackers With Cheese Recipe

Traditionally, crackers are made from flour. So obviously, if you are on the keto diet – you can’t eat them at all – they are extremely high in carbs (and contain gluten, which you shouldn’t consume on Keto either). But – before you get disappointed, I have great news! It’s super easy to make keto crackers from cheese at home. In fact – the whole recipe takes less than 5 minutes. These cheese keto crackers are absolutely delicious. Prepare them daily and enjoy them while hot and crunchy. One of the most simple, cheap, and delicious keto recipes! These homemade keto cheese crackers taste even better than store-bought crackers.

Choosing Cheese

And the best part is, you can change the flavors and experiment with different cheeses and seasoning. Each cheese melts in a different way and gives a different texture and taste. Some cheeses will give a better “crunchy” texture than others, but overall – almost any good cheese will work for this keto crackers recipe. Try different combinations and share your experience in the comments below.

I recommend using zero-carb cheese. There are plenty of them. It’s also recommended to use high-fat cheeses (25% fat and above). Low-fat cheese doesn’t make good keto cheese crackers. Don’t buy cheese with preservatives – the cheese should only contain milk and seasonings! No other ingredients. I also came across “fake cheese” – made with soy and vegetable oils. These cheeses should be avoided at all costs – even if they contain zero carbs.

You can also place a small piece of blue cheese (like Gorgonzola) on top of the hot crackers (as soon as you get them out of the microwave). It really makes these crackers amazing. I personally really like cheese like Gorgonzola and Cambazola. They are rich in Vitamin K (plays a key role in helping the blood clot), calcium and many other micro nutrients. These cheeses are not cheap, but defiantly worth their price. 

You can make these keto crackers in the microwave (like I am showing in this recipe), or the oven/toaster. In my opinion – the microwave method is the quickest and best. When you are hungry – you don’t have time to pre-heat the oven- you want to eat, quick! The oven method is great when you want to prepare bulk amounts (to serve guests for example). It’s best to eat the crackers immediately- freezing them or putting them in the refrigerator spoils the crunchiness.

Ingredients
  • Cheese (cheddar / mozzarella / yellow cheese)
  • Spices (oregano, cumin, basil, chilli flakes, gralic powder)
Instructions
  • Arrange your favorite cheese (for example – cheddar, mozzarella , yellow cheese. Use low-carb cheese, and if possible – without preservatives) in small flat heaps
  • Add spices – I recommend oregano, cumin, basil, chilli flakes, garlic powder.

Keto and Dairy

While most people on the keto diet consume dairy products, others advocate against it. Dairy products do cause problems for some people (including digestive symptoms and acne), but if you are not sensitive to it – there is no reason to avoid dairy. Dairy should be avoided by people with lactose intolerance. Most people with lactose intolerance don’t know about it – the symptoms can be very mild. For others they can be very serious. Try to eliminate dairy from the diet for a month, and then reintroduce. See if you experience any symptoms like bloating.
