🍞 Making Low Carb Irish Soda Bread

Make the perfect keto Irish bread at home! Follow this recipe:

Step 1

Start by preheating the oven to 320F (160C) and lining a baking sheet with a silicone mat.

Then, add the heavy cream and vinegar to a small bowl and combine.

Take another bowl, and whisk the almond flour with the coconut flour, sweetener, protein powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 2

Grate the butter into the dry ingredients. Mix well to combine. Then, mix in the dried cranberries.

Step 3

Mix in the cream mixture and the egg whites. The dough will form. Transfer it to the baking sheet.

Wet your hands and form a round and high loaf. Brush it with melted butter (optional- but I highly recommend it!).

Step 4

Using a sharp knife- cut an X in the center. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Once the outside of the bread changes color and becomes golden- brown – it’s ready.

Step 5

Turn off the oven, but don’t remove the bread yet. Leave it inside for an additional half hour. Then, remove it and allow it to cool for at least one hour.

Almond Flour

For this low carb Irish soda bread recipe, we will be using almond flour, which is a great alternative to wheat flour.

Almond flour is naturally gluten-free, and has a mild, nutty flavor that works perfectly in this recipe.

I also use a few tablespoons of coconut flour to help the bread hold together better, but the main ingredient is almond flour.

I use almond flour is so many of my recipes, because it’s just excellent for this kind of baking.

There are many brands that sell almond flour, but you can also ground almonds at home if you have the time.

Dried Cranberries

To make this almond flour soda bread look and taste amazing, I added dried cranberries.

This gives the bread an extra burst of flavor. Dried cranberries are not keto-friendly, but when used in moderation- they can be a part of a keto recipe.

You can skip this part and make a plain version of the bread too. It will taste great too.
