French Toast Keto Ingredients
Keto Bread – You can find a homemade keto bread recipe on our website and follow it, or use store-bought Keto bread like Oroweat keto bread.
2 Large Eggs
1 Unsweetened Almond Milk – You can use coconut milk instead. Just make sure to use a low-carb milk substitute.
1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Substitute- You can use erythritol or monk fruit sweetener. Both of them are easy to find.
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract- Make sure to buy a high-quality vanilla extract – the difference in flavor is noticeable.
1 1/2 tablespoon Butter- Will be used to fry the keto french toast. I recommend using grass-fed butter.
Keto French Toast Recipe
Step 1: Whisking The Ingredients
First, whisk together the eggs, almond milk, sweetener, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. When they are smooth and custard-like, stop and set the bowl aside.
Step 2: Soaking The French Toasts
Place the skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Once the skillet is hot, start soaking each bread slice in the mixture for 5-10 seconds.
Step 3: Frying
Fry each slice of bread in butter on both sides over medium heat until golden brown. About 2 minutes per side. Enjoy!
Can You Freeze It?
You can put the carb free french toast in ziplock bags and store them in the freezer. But, for the best results- vacuum seal them first. This will help them last for longer and keep them fresh.
To reheat, use the microwave, or fry for a few minutes on a pan. These are the tastiest when they are fresh.
Since they are so easy to make, I recommend avoiding freezing, and just making fresh toast as you need it.
Are There Really Keto Friendly?
Regular french toasts are high in carbs and not ideal for those on a keto diet. But these keto french toasts have just 4 grams of net carbs per serving.
If you can fit them into your macros, they’re a delicious and satisfying breakfast option. They taste great with keto maple syrup and low-carb keto powdered sugar.
So, who said the keto diet has to be boring? If you are creative, there are plenty of delicious and nutritious meals to enjoy – even french toast.
Combine this keto friendly french toast with keto chocolate ganache and you have a delicious and indulgent breakfast that is also low-carb and keto friendly.
Tips And Tricks
* If you want a richer flavor, just swap out the milk for full-fat heavy cream. The difference is very noticeable.
French Toast Sticks
To make low carb french toast sticks, make sure to slice the bread before dipping it in the mixture.
If you don’t, the bread will absorb too much of the mixture and you won’t get that desired creamy center.
You can use powdered keto sugar on top, or use low carb fruits like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
You can also try syrups and sauces like keto maple syrup and keto honey. Make sure the syrops you are using are low in carbs and keto friendly.
