For this keto cottage pie recipe you will need:

For The Cauliflower Layer

  • 1 large head Cauliflower (chop it into florets)
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 1 Minced Garlic Clove
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt

For The Beef Filling

  • 1 pound (450g) Ground Beef
  • 1 Chopped Carrot
  • 1/2 Yellow Onion (finely chopped)
  • 4 Minced Garlic Cloves
  • 1 1/2  tablespoons Avocado Oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon Dried Parsley
  • 3/4 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 3/4 cup Peas
  • 2 tablespoons Liquid Aminos
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

⭐ Making Keto Cottage Pie 

Easily make this perfect low carb cottage pie! Follow this simple recipe:

Step 1

Start by chopping the cauliflower into small pieces. Put the cauliflower in a pot of boiling water and let it cook until very tender (about ten minutes).

Then, strain it and transfer it to a blender with the butter, garlic and salt. Blend them together.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 350F (175C), and while it heats -place a skillet over medium heat.

Add the avocado oil. Once hot, add the onion and saute until it starts browning (it should take about 5 or 6 minutes).

Step 3

And now it’s time to add the ground beef. Use a spatula to chop it into bits.

Then, add the garlic, oregano, parsley, carrots, and salt. Cover the skillet and let everything cook for about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add all the remaining ingredients to the skillet. Mix well and continue cooking until the sauce has thickened – It should take 5 or 6 minutes.

Step 5

Spread the mixture with meat in the bottom of a 10 inch pie dish. Then, add the mashed cauliflower over the meat and spread it evenly.

Step 6

Bake in the oven for about 40 minutes. The cauliflower mash on top should become golden brown.

Ground Beef

If you want this pie to be extra juicy and tender, use fatty ground beef. 80/20 or even 70/30 should do the trick!

You can also mix the ground beef with ground lamb – it will make for a truly flavorful combination.

Cauliflower is one of the main ingredients in this keto cottage pie recipe. I use it in so many of my low carb recipes because it is so versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes.

It’s low in carbs and has a unique texture that helps make this dish extra tasty.

You can buy fresh cauliflower, but I prefer to use frozen cauliflower because it’s cheaper and I can store it in my freezer for when I’m ready to use it.

Garlic

I added a pretty generous amount of garlic to this keto cottage pie to make it taste like the classic version.

The garlic really adds a nice depth of flavor. If you don’t really like garlic, you can just use less – even half of what I added would still give great flavor!
