👨‍🍳 Low Carb Cinnamon Twists Ingredients

This keto cinnamon twists recipe is easy, and all the ingredients are keto friendly. You can find them all at your local grocery store or online.

There are so many keto recipes that you can make at home, but cinnamon twists are one of our favorites!

Easy-to-make, and accessible ingredients make this a go-to recipe when you need that “little something sweet”.

For The Twists

1 Cup Almond Flour – almond flour is very popular in many keto recipes because it allows mimicking the texture of wheat without the carbs.

2oz (55g) Cream Cheese- So many deserts include cream cheese because its rich and creamy texture is perfect for sweets.

Make sure to use high-quality cream cheese, as it will make a difference in the final product.

1 1/4 tablespoon of Baking Powder – baking powder is used in recipes to create volume because it helps the batter rise.

It also makes the end product airier, which is why it’s often used in muffins and pancakes.

1 Egg

1/2 teaspoon of Salt

4oz (115g) Shredded Mozzarella- Mozzarella is a great cheese because it has a very mild flavor and can be used in so many different ways. It is also a very versatile cheese because it can be melted and shredded.

For The Cinnamon Butter

1/4 Cup Brown Erythritol – This sweetener can be easily found in the US, but you can also order it online from iHerb. Buy it once and use it for many different recipes.

1/4 Cup of Melted Butter – use unslated, high-quality butter for the best flavor and texture.

I recommend using grass-fed butter for this recipe to get the best flavor and nutritional value.

1 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon – Cinnamon is the king of herbs, and this recipe is so tasty because of it. I recommend buying organic cinnamon.

For The Icing

1 tablespoon of Cream Cheese

1/4 cup of Powdered Erythritol Sweetener

1 1/4 tablespoons Heavy Cream

3/4 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract

⭐ Making Keto Cinnamon Twists

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the mozzarella and cream cheese. Then microwave everything in 25-30 second intervals until melted.

Then, whisk the egg into the heated mixture.

Step 2

In a different bowl, whisk the almond flour with the baking powder and salt until they are combined.

Then, add the mixture to the bowl with the cheese mixture. Make sure to blend it well – take your time.

Step 4 - adding it to the cheesePin

Step 3

Knead the dough into a ball. Wrap it tight in a cling film, and place it in the refrigerator for at least 40 minutes.

Make 8 balls from the dough.

Step 4 -Knead The DoughPin

Step 4

Take each ball and divide it into 2 even pieces. Roll each one into a log.

Now, for the fun part- twist both logs to create the shape. To secure the ends all you have to do is pinch them together.

Once done, place everything on a baking sheet.

Step 5 Creating The ShapePin

Step 5

To create the coating for the keto cinnamon twists- take a new bowl and stir the butter with brown erythritol, and cinnamon together. Brush the twists.

Step 6

We are almost done! Now it’s the easy part – bake these low carb cinnamon twists for 25-30 minutes at 350F (180C).

Step 7

Whisk the cream cheese, powdered erythritol, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. These will create really delicious icing.

Step 8

After taking the twists from the oven- you must let them cool for at least 30 minutes (yes, I know- they look delicious but let them cool down!)

Drizzle the icing on top, and (finally) enjoy! Yummy!

step 9 - ready to eatPin

We do use sweeteners (Erythritol) which are not optimal for daily consumption, but if you consume them in moderation, they are fine.

Just don’t eat these keto cinnamon twists on daily basis and you will be fine!

Can You Freeze Them?

I don’t recommend freezing these cinnamon twists because they are best enjoyed fresh. Once you freeze them, they lose their crispiness and fluffiness.

Since this recipe is so easy to make, I would recommend just making a fresh batch when you are ready to eat them.
