In this keto banana cream pie recipe I use sweeteners to make it as sugar-free as possible. You can skip the sweeteners if you want, or if the sweeteners have a bad effect on you.

Remember that some sweeteners are more keto-friendly than others. Sometimes, you need to experiment to find the effect of different sweeteners on your body.

Step1:  Mixing Ingredients For The Crust

Now, start adding the ingredients for the pie crust to a food processor. Pulse until you get coarse crumbles – it shouldn’t take long. Everything should mix together easily.

Step 2: Forming The Crust

This is my favorite part! Press the crust mixture into a pie plate. Make sure to press on the bottom, and don’t forget the edges!

Step 2: Forming The CrustPin

Step 3: Baking

Bake the pie crust for about 10 minutes. Pay attention to the color, you want it to be golden brown. Don‘t overcook! Once you remove it from the oven, let it cool for 20-30 minutes.

Step 3: BakingPin

Step 4: The Filling

Take a small bowl and pour in 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream. Then, sprinkle gelatin and let it do its thing for several minutes. In the meantime, you can make the banana custard.

Step 4: The FillingPin

Step 5: Making The Banana Custard

For this step, you will need a small saucepan and a whisk. Add the heavy whipping cream, nut milk, sweetener, egg yolks, and salt to the saucepan.

It’s important to heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to thicken and coats the back of a spoon. This should take about 6 or 7 minutes. Make sure not to overcook the egg yolks.

Remove from heat immediately once the mixture coats a spoon.

Step 6: Adding The Filling To The Crust

Quickly whisk the butter, gelatin mixture, banana and vanilla flavoring into the saucepan. Pour it onto the crust and make sure it’s spread out evenly.

Let it sit in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

Step 7: Adding Whipped Cream

To make the whipped cream topping – add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to a bowl and beat until stiff peaks form. Make sure to spread it evenly on top of the banana pie before serving.

Are Bananas Keto Friendly?

Absolutely not. Bananas are high in carbs. Eating even just a one big banana a day can quickly throw you out of ketosis. But this doesn’t mean you can’t make keto banana cream pie!

In this keto banana cream pie recipe, I am using a banana extract. This extract is very potent and a little goes a long way.low carb banana cream piePin

It gives the pie that classic banana flavor without all of those extra carbs from an actual banana!

The banana slices you see in my photos – are for decoration only. But, if your macros permit, a piece or two shouldn’t kick you out of ketosis.

How To Store This Pie?

Store this keto banana cream pie in the refrigerator until served. Freezing it will make the custard lose its texture and the crust will be soggy when defrosted.

You can make the filling ahead, but the crust should be made the day of or it will become soggy.

Adding Pecans

I like Pecans very much. They are not very high in carbs – most of the carbs are in the form of fiber.

You can add crushed pecans to this keto banana cream pie recipe. Or, even better- roast the Pecans first, and then add them to the pie. Yummy!
