    Carnivore Tuna Melts Recipe

I’ve tested this recipe multiple times to get it just right, and the key is in the timing of the cheese melting.

When done correctly, the mozzarella creates a perfect pocket for the tuna filling, giving you that satisfying crunch on the outside while keeping the inside warm and creamy.

They store well in the fridge, so you can make extra and have them ready for the next day. Let’s get started!

👍 Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Quick to Make: This recipe only takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. You don’t need to spend hours in the kitchen or plan ahead.

Just grab your ingredients, follow the simple steps, and you’ll have a delicious meal ready in no time.

Only Three Ingredients: You only need mozzarella cheese, tuna, and mayo to make these melts.

    Easy Tuna Melts

Great Texture Combination: The recipe creates an amazing mix of textures that many carnivore recipes lack.

The cheese becomes crispy on the outside while staying chewy, and the tuna filling stays creamy and soft.

High in Protein: Each tuna melt packs a serious protein punch. With both the tuna and mozzarella cheese contributing protein, these melts help you meet your daily protein goals while following the carnivore diet.

      👨‍🍳 How To Make

      Follow this easy recipe:

      Step 1

Start by preheating the oven to 350°F.

      Step 2

Place the mozzarella slices onto 2 baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

      Step 3

Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes until fully melted. Meanwhile, mix the tuna and mayo in a bowl.

      Step 4

Remove the cheese from the oven. Let them cool for 10 minutes. Then, add a few spoonfuls of tuna to the corner of each cheese shell. Fold in half into a triangle shape and firmly press to close.

      Step 5

Return to the oven for 5 more minutes. Remove, let cool for 10 minutes, and serve!

      💡Tips

      1. Drain That Tuna Really Well

Wet tuna will make your melts soggy and might prevent the cheese from crisping up properly.

Drain the cans thoroughly, then press down on the tuna with a fork in the strainer to get out every last drop of liquid.

If your tuna is too wet, it can also make the mayo mixture too runny, which will slide right off the cheese. The drier your tuna, the better your final result will be.

      2. Cooling Time

The cooling time might seem long when you’re hungry, but it’s really important. If you try to fold the cheese while it’s too hot, it will either stretch too much and tear, or it won’t hold its shape.

During cooling, the cheese develops that perfect texture that will allow it to fold without breaking.

      FAQ

      1. Can I use other types of cheese?

While mozzarella works best because it melts smoothly, you can try other cheeses too. Provolone works well as a second choice.

Cheddar tends to release too much oil and becomes brittle. Swiss cheese can work but needs to be watched carefully as it melts faster. Stick to mozzarella your first few times making this recipe.

Once you understand how the cheese should look and feel, you can experiment with other types.

      2. My tuna melts won’t stay closed, why?

Either the filling is too wet, you didn’t let the cheese cool enough before folding, or you didn’t press the edges firmly enough.

Make sure to drain the tuna very well and don’t use too much mayo. Let the cheese cool for the full 10 minutes – this isn’t optional.

When folding, press the edges firmly but gently to seal them. You can also try making the filling a bit less thick.
