To make the beef bacon, you will need these ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225g) Beef Bacon
  • 3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • pinch of Salt
  • pinch of Pepper

🥓 How To Make Beef Bacon

This beef bacon recipe is very simple. Just follow these steps:

Step 1

Mix the baking soda with 2-3 tablespoons of water in a medium bowl. Then, toss the beef bacon strips inside, and mix around until they are all coated. Let it sit for about 1 hour.

Then, remove them, and dry them off with paper towels. You want them completely dry, or they will not crisp up properly when cooked.

Step 2

Preheat your oven to 400F (200C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

Then, place the bacon slices on the baking sheet. Leave some space between each slice so that they are not touching each other.

Season with salt, pepper and smoked paprika. Bake for 20 minutes – or until they are very crispy.

Allow them to cool down for at least 30 minutes before serving!

What Is Beef Bacon?

Beef bacon is a cut from between the brisket and the flank. It’s the cow’s belly.

This cut is marbled with fat and has a great beefy flavor. It’s perfect for bacon because of its deep and rich flavor- and of course – the fat content.

Without any doubt, it tastes as good as pork bacon- and some say it’s even better.

Follow my recipe to learn how to cook beef bacon to perfection. This cut is amazing- but it’s important to cook it right so it’s not too tough or chewy.

Baking Time 

This beef bacon recipe may seem simple, but this cut is pretty tricky. If you don’t make it “crispy” enough- and “break” the fibers- you’ll be left with a tough and chewy piece of meat.

On the other hand, if you cook it too long, the fat will render and the bacon will be dry. I’ve found that the sweet spot is 20 minutes, but it can vary depending on your oven.

Let It Cool Down First

After removing the beef bacon from the oven, you MUST let it cool down for at least 30 minutes.

If you eat it right away- it won’t be nearly as tender as it should be. I know that waiting this long (this dish smells too good to wait!) is hard, but trust me- it’s worth it!

Using Baking Soda

To make beef bacon super tender, I use baking soda. It is a key ingredient in many restaurants and really does work! Just don’t use too much or it will make your bacon taste horrible.

Baking soda is a “magic ingredient” for many things, including making meat more tender. When used in a marinade, it helps break down the tough proteins in meat so that they are more tender when cooked.

How To Cook Beef Bacon In Air Fryer?

You can easily prepare beef bacon in the air fryer instead of the oven. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place the beef bacon on the air fryer basket (after following the recipe steps of course) and cook for about 6 minutes.

Then, turn over the beef bacon and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and enjoy!

How To Fry Beef Bacon?

You can also fry beef bacon in a pan instead of oven-baking it. To do this, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the beef bacon strips to the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.

Allow to cool for 20 minutes, and then serve.
